20 Business Cards with QR Codes

Do you wish you have more space in your business card for the important information about your business? You can actually put tremendous information in your business card without being obvious by adding a QR code on it. What is a QR code? QR stands for quick response. By putting a QR code on your business card, people can have quick access to information by simply scanning a bar-code-like button on their smart phone. You can, for example, link the QR Code to a website that tells them more about yourself or your business. If you are a blogger, you can point them to the About Me page of your blog or to your Facebook Fan Page. You can even link the QR code to an email sign up form or an entry form to a giveaway and promotions. Well, there are a lot of other things that you can do with QR codes on your business card.

The first thing you need to consider in putting a QR code on your business card is actually generating the code. There are several websites that allows you to generate the code for free. Examples are QRStuff.com, Kaywa and iCandy. Most of these sites allows you to enter the URL you want to link the code to and the software will generate the code for you. You download the code and embed it on your business card design. If you are planning to have it printed by a commercial printer, then all you need to do is download the image and email it to your printer for inclusion in the business card design.

How do you scan a QR code? With most smartphone platforms—from Blackberry, Android, iPhone and Symbian—supporting QR Codes and even coming bundled with a scanner, the use of QR codes for business cards is expected to become more and more popular. To read a QR code using your smart phone, you need to download an application such as Red Laser (for iPhone and Android users), QR Code Reader App (for iPhone) or QR Code Scanner Pro (for Blackberry). Once you have any of these apps, all you need to do is take a picture of the code on any business card and the application will decode it for you.
